"Memes at Scale" by Oli Griffiths

Serving petabytes of images comes with its own challenges. Need a resize? Sure, but should you store multiple resizes of billions of images? That’s a lot of $$$. Need to know who uploaded and where an image is used based solely on its url? Law enforcement does. This talk dives into Tumblr's media strategy and the recent media registry project.

Oli will help us "get off the Drupal island" by showing us how Tumblr gets stuff done (without Drupal).

Bio: Oli Griffiths has worked in tech for over 15 years building everything from apps to APIs, websites to servers. Having worked at Tumblr for over four years, Oli has designed and built many systems from core to user facing. There’s always something new to learn.

"Entity Reference with Layout: Integrating Paragraphs with D8's Layout System" by Italo Mairo

This talk will describe the experimental and unique approach of the ERL module, which couples the nested structure of Paragraphs entities with the flexibility of the Drupal 8 core Layout system, providing an elegant and interactive administrative UI. We'll examine basic and advanced D8 layouts, the advantages of the ERL module, and a real complex case in which it was successfully adopted.
